  • An extensive background and experience with U.S. Naval Carrier Aviation
  • Superior editing and writing skills
  • Full time employment at the Tailhook Association Headquarters in San Diego, California

Responsibilities include:

  • Assessing and approving editorial content
  • Copyediting
  • Proofreading
  • Overseeing production of publications and other materials

Desired professional editorial and publication production experience:

  • The ideal candidate will be a retired US Navy or US Marine Corps Aviator.
  • Book or magazine editing experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated skills to identify and correct errors in word usage, grammar, punctuation, style and spelling in English.
  • Ability to work independently, to organize and work on several projects at once and to communicate effectively with other staff members

Benefits:

Sales and Convention Coordinator Assistant

Sales and Convention Coordinator Assistant

Part to Full Time position

The Sales and Convention Coordinator Assistant is responsible for inventory, sales order fulfillment processes, and marketing based on trend analysis and customer feedback. This position also assists the Convention Coordinator with administrative and scheduling tasks to ensure our convention flows in a smooth and timely manner. Sales and Convention Coordinator Assistant must have good planning skills and the ability to anticipate problems and develop a plan of action to prevent delays in the association's workflow and assists the Office Manager when required.

Essential Functions

  • Responsible for all aspects of sales, inventory, ordering, processing and shipping orders, providing periodic sales trend analysis, and marketing based on customer feedback.
  • Supports the Convention Coordinator in the planning, scheduling and execution of our annual symposium.
  • Support Office Manager in all key functional areas of office operation.

Knowledge & Skills

  • Possess excellent communication skills (written and verbal) to interface with members, vendors, corporate sponsors, and staff of varying levels, and military ranks.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong organizational skills, be dependable, responsible and can work in a growth environment.
  • Able to identify and resolve issues with limited supervision.
  • Able to complete successful coordination and planning of annual convention on schedule.
  • Able to prioritize work during busy periods.
  • Displays a positive attitude with a “customer first” approach to all members and a willingness to learn, create, adapt, and overcome issues that may arise.

Technical Requirements

  • Microsoft Office proficiency (MS Project, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Comfortable working with website developer.
  • Ability to learn and acquire a working knowledge of military vernacular.
  • Willing to learn all aspects of mailing packages, and operating all office equipment. Undertake daily administrative tasks to ensure the functionality and coordination of the yearly convention activities.

Experience

  • Prior experience in sales and or marketing preferred or a combination of education and experience to successfully perform the essential functions of the job.
  • The Tailhook Association is a membership based non-profit organization with a focus on carrier aviation. Experience and knowledge of naval aviation, military ranks, and protocol is preferred.
