Free SAT/ACT software for Military Families
Administrative Notes
The scholarship grant selection is complete and the selectees have been notified by email. Letters to all applicants will be in the mail by the end of the first week of June. The selection committee had 282 applications to review and selected 85 recipients. The grants ranged from $1,500 to $15,000.

The next selection cycle starts on 15 December 2009 for the 2010-2011 school year.

Now is the time to prepare: Grade Point Average, SAT/ACT Scores, academic achievement, participation in school government, community service and sports are all factors in the selection.

You can improve your SAT/ACT scores: eKnowledge Corporation’s Military Donation Program offering FREE SAT/ACT Test Preparation Programs to America’s military service members, their families and veterans worldwide. Three years ago, the Chairman and CEO, Charlie Beall, a former Marine Corps Officer, organized this significant donation effort for our military families and veterans. Since then, eKnowledge has donated more than $20 million in SAT/ACT Test Preparation Products to over 100,000 U.S. military service members. The standard price for the SAT/ACT Test Preparation Software is $200.00. This gift represents one of the largest private donations to America’s service families in U.S. history and a significant financial commitment by eKnowledge.

The schedule for the reunion and the symposium complete. This year we have one golf course (Wildcreek) dedicated to the reunion and an overflow course with the Top Gun reunion. Make your golf reservation early. Other tours include a Lake Tahoe cruise, Tahoe Ridge winery and NAS Fallon for the Blue Angels flight demonstration. The symposium will start on Friday morning with advancements in carrier aviation and a war fighter panel. Saturday’s schedule includes Air Warfare (N-88) update, an edge of the envelope presentation and the Flag panel brief.
We have the following piggyback reunions scheduled:
The economic slowdown in Reno has caused one of our overflow hotels - the Silver Club to close. The Nugget Hotel is filling up and this year we have overflow accommodations at the Silver Legacy. The Silver Legacy is providing shuttle transportation and the room rate is the same as the Nugget. Reservations for both hotels are linked to the Tailhook.net web site and reservations can be made by phone.

Donor in the Spot Light

Our hats are off to CAPT William O Shewchuk USN (RET).

Take a look below at Bill's initiative. He raised over $1500 dollars for a donation to the Foundation through his “Big Sur Walkathon.” Bill walked 21 miles and solicited his friends, family and squadron mates for support. It’s with a great deal of pride that we salute Bill as our Donor in the Spot Light this month.

Big Sur Walkathon

Please support my efforts to raise funds for the Tailhook Scholarship Program. To demonstrate my commitment to this worthwhile endeavor, I walked 21 miles as part of the Big Sur Marathon. Thank you for your support.

If you or any of your friends have an event coming up and it lends itself to donations, please take Bill's lead and use the Tailhook Educational Foundation as the recipient of your endeavor.
